13 SECURITY FORCE MEMBERS KILLED IN TALIBAN CLASHES
At least 13 security force members were killed and 11 others were wounded in clashes with the Taliban in the northeastern province of Badakhshan and northern Kunduz province on Sunday night, said local officials and a security source said.
Six policemen were killed and nine others were wounded in fighting with the Taliban after the group attacked security checkpoints in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province on Sunday night, said a security source.
The clashes started at 9:00 pm local time and ended at 6:00 am on Monday morning, the source said, adding that “the Taliban have also suffered casualties but there is no exact information yet.”
Also, seven security forces were killed and two others were wounded in a Taliban attack in Arghanjkhwa district of the province after “70 Taliban, Al-Qaeda and Daesh including foreign fighters have attacked security checkpoints,” said Nik Mohammad Nazari, a spokesman for provincial governor.
“Five insurgents were also killed in the attack and several others were wounded in the clashes,” he said.
The insurgents attack was pushed back by the security forces, he added.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the attacks.
