3 MORE DOCTORS DIE WITH COVID-19 IN BANGLADESH

3 more doctors die with Covid-19

Three more doctors died of coronavirus in Dhaka, Dinajpur and Chattogram today.

Dr. Md Ashrafuzzaman breathed his last at Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital around 8:00 am, Superintendent of the hospital Dr. Mohammad Shihab Uddin confirmed to The Daily Star. 

He was admitted to the hospital around 1:00 am today, Dr. Shihab said.

Joint Secretary of Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR) Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury said Dr. Ashrafuzzaman was a former assistant professor of Dhaka Medical College.

He was chief of the burn unit of Mugda Medical College and Hospital, Dr Rahat said, adding that the doctor went into retirement from government job four years back. 

In Dinajur, Dr Shah Abdul Ahad (70), former director of M Abdur Rahim Medical College, passed away around 8:30 am, said the district's Civil Surgeon Dr Abdul Kuddus.

Dr. Ahad, also a former president of Bangladesh Medical. Association (BMA), tested positive for Covid-19 on June 8 and since then, he was undergoing treatment at the coronavirus unit of M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital, DrKuddus said.

He was a diabetes and heart patient, the civil surgeon said.

Dr. Nurul Haque, senior resident medical officer of Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital, died of Covid-19 infection at the hospital's ICU around 4:00 am today.

Confirming his death, Executive Director of the hospital Dr. Abdur Rob told The Daily Star that he was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the last three days.

Dr. Nurul Haque served the hospital for the last 19 years, he said.

FDSR's joint secretary Dr. Rahat confirmed that Dr. Nurul was a 38th batch student of Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
